The Writing Life

Many high schools have Career Days which involve inviting people of different occupations and walks of life to do presentations and workshop on their chosen profession.  This talk is one James has given many times in many places in Canada and beyond and is often done in the context of smaller classroom encounters in conjunction with a keynote or whole-school presentation.  The Writing Life is really the story of how some of his books came to be talking about the original motivation to write, what it’s like to plan and conduct research, where the joys and pitfalls reside and what the rewards can be.  This presentation works particularly well with English students or members of writing curricular or extra curricular writing or reading clubs.
